And the other thing I know about myself is doing anything outdoors is better. Today, I did some of all three: 1) exercise, 2) in the outdoors, 3) followed by a little gluttony.
Chad and I joined 10 other MS 150 trainees for a 30-mile bike ride on a trail system in Illinois. It was my first time on a bike since we rode the Texas MS 150 in April (although I've been spinning a couple of times a week). Even with temps above 90 when we finished, the trail was so flat that we averaged close to 18 mph for the whole ride. The trail passed through heavily treed and shaded areas and farmland.

I love cycling. I love cycling even more when Chad is there. When we finished around 10 AM, some of the other riders shared cold beer and watermelon. It was a great start to the day.
Chad and I picked up Mexican food on the way home. A little queso made for a great post-ride lunch. We shared with Kate and Claire which meant we didn't get too much queso--they could eat a bucket of cheese in one sitting.
Tonight, I went to a wine bar with my friend and running partner, Julie, and two of her high school friends. The wine was good--I enjoyed a flight of whites. And the company was great. Julie's friends are women I probably would have liked in high school, too.
